about

Inspired by the 10th Aethyr

lyrics

There was a night so vast and full of stars
That the explosion rent the fabric
Of the lonely watcher below.
And in the treeless waste of the curving dunes
The distance increased between the one and the other.

Sliding through fingers that helplessly grasp
At a fragment of time, a glimmer of light,
No answer to the question that hung in the air,
And disappeared into the night.
And I waited, and I wondered, as the voice of the wind
Took my last breath away and extinguished the day
And I lit a great fire for the camp
For tonight we celebrate and we dance with the snake
And the dawn is not far away
The dawn is not far away.

I lit a great fire for the camp
To cleanse it and keep it alive
Till the blood was absorbed, and the triangle gone
And the spirits had vanished again.
I relied on them once, and I saw in the flames
The illusion of Fire and Water
My thoughts were but flickers, my Reason a lie
And I searched for a snake I could dance with.

We dance in our folly ‘neath a blanket of stars
That glow in the dark like a child’s plaything
We laugh at the Gods as we dare to embark
On a journey that takes us in circles.
In the bliss of the moment, we cannot believe
Our paces will not be remembered.
The sands will be shifting, the waters receding
Our thirst will increase by the hour.

But onward we dance for we must celebrate
And Eva will charm the slithering Snake
And the dawn is not far away.
